Scheduled down time

Postby chris Hodgson » Wed Jan 18, 2012 6:15 pm

This weekend coming (21/1/12), I'm going to be working on the general coding of the forum, as well as updating one or two bits n bobs. So from about 12 noon on Sunday, the forum may go on and off line a few times, while I break things, and discover that hitting my head on the wall will not fix them
I may actually do a fresh install of the forum software, and reapply all the current modifications, as this is easier than searching for redundant code etc. I will also be looking at the two most popular mobile apps (Tapatalk and Forum Runner), and see if I can get them to function correctly. Reporting the bugs in them to the app developers, is about as much use as a chocolate teaspoon, because it's taken them 5 days so far, and they haven't even replied
So this is just a heads up, so you don't start banging your keyboards, wondering why the forum will not load on Sunday

Update:
Some tasks completed, but not the main big ones. I've put these on hold for now, so will update this thread when I'm ready to do them (should be Thursday this week)

Cheers Chris.
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

I blame everybody else for pressing buttons and using new apps
I have actually found the problem with the app, and it's a conflict with the apps java script mobile detection and current mobile detection php scripts  The app developers solution is to basically wipe all other mobile browsing options, other than their app (took them 10 days to work that out) Nice idea as that is, I'm not willing to force people in to buying an app, just so they can post and view via one product for mobiles. The ethos of this forum, is to remain completely free, so I will place my thinking cap on over the next week or so, and develop my own way of making it work
