I started with a d80 and got completely hooked on photography.
I loved the creamy images it produced.
People say the d90 is the upgrade from that but if the spec is what you want and price is good then go for it.

Sorry - I have no experience of Canon at all so...cant really help with a comparison.

both are good cameras Goz and both will be great for starting up in photography. My advice ould be to try both out and see which you feel most comfortable holding. One thing to be aware of though is that there are a lot more lenses out there for Nikon due to the fact that they have not changed their lens mount in over 50 years...so old Nikon lenses from the 60's will all work on the D80-albeit some would be manual focus unless they had a focus motor on them, whereas Canon have changed their mount several times in the last 30 years so very old lenses from 20 years ago wont fit on current bodies. that being said, they can both take fantastic images and at the end of the day it isnt the camera- its the nince inches for brain behind the lens that matters
Please dont hold back.Im here to learn and to learn you have to listen to the mistakes you have made,so tell me!
