Classic Bike Show

Postby Dewi Sant » Sun Oct 16, 2011 4:33 pm

Cracking day out yesterday at the Stafford Classic Bike Show in....erm, Stafford believe it or not  Beautiful clear blue skies gave the whole event a real "Summer Fete" feel. I never took any photos - too busy drooling over some lovely old classic machines. Well, there was one shot (below) that I took indoors of the lovely mid 80s Honda RC30 - which was brought to production (as the VFR750) to homogolate it for World Superbike Racing in the mid 80s. The final 100 RC30s were made for the UK so not too many of this model survive having met their demise at many of world's race circuits. This particular bike looks like it had been used mainly on the road - it had over 20k miles on it hence it's survival. I'm big lover of Honda's lovely V4 engined VFR machines - I've had 3 of them over the years, probably one of the best bikes ever made.

Crappy photo but thought I'd post it up anyway -'cos I hasn't posted anything here for ages now innit?

Thanks Jayne, but looking at it now I should have moved it a bit to the right and up a bit to get all of the background pic and the full VFR750 logo in. It was one of those that I had to wait for the world and his mother to move out of the way so it was pretty much point and shoot while there was a few seconds gap

You had an VFR 750 RC30 Viffer? I'm impressed, did you ever track it? Saw one go for sale recently for over £22k. I've had all 3 of the mainstream production VFRs - 750FV (RC36) the VFR800 (Fi-x) and the VFR800 V.Tec (A6) which as you'll know went to chain dirven cams and was never quite the same. I went to look at the new VFR 1200 before buying the BMW but it's just not a VFR anymore - totally lost the ethos of it IMO, horrible thing
