Good work on the first shot getting the exposure fairly well balanced in what seems to be tough conditions.
You got some fine reflections on that second shot - light looks nice too.
Would look better if the bow of the boat was completely in shot though
I am geek.

The first one would make a nice mono with a few tweaks

What sort of 'tweaks'? I have Photoshop but as yet have not used it! starting a course next week.

if you tweak the levels to give you better contrasts then when you have converted maybe a bit of dodge and burn? maybe an image to practice on once you get a few hours of your course under your belt? you do know we have a live facility for showing each other editing techniques?

tweaking levels, dodge and burn??? Wot you on about? The gal's not gonna learn a lot if you don't explain the terminology.
