CNY: Year of the Dragon fireworks:

Postby yeti monster » Fri Jan 27, 2012 2:51 am

As the Chinese New year celebrations drag on and on and on (a bit like that Chrimbugmas thing we have in the west) the totally random letting off of explosives continues unabated. From noon until some ungodly hour o'clock in the moronings they are popping, banging and whistling, from carparks, street corners and shop doorways, young and old alike are determined to wind their way to casualty with fingers blown from their hands. still, I am homing in on the better places to see them, so not all bad news. Here are my best shots from last night:

The last one is my favourite, as it reminds me of M-13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules....

If you'd seen the orange sky in the originals, perhaps you wouldn't be offering such advice...

I was going to put up this evenings display, but quite frankly I found the above post to be a bit rude. I don't mind folk dickin' about with my shots or indeed offering relevant CC, but to be so blunt? Well it prompted a line which I had to delete. Suffice to say that I am no longer allowing you to edit my shots. Thanks a million pal!!!!

Ok you did say people could edit if you are unhappy then you should not have allowed it.

Placed here before you changed from YES to edit your shots to no you can't

Being an Astronomer and you saying "M-13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules" I simply did this, edit, trying to "help" in a "friendly" way !

If you are on a forum then expect comments that is what it is for NOTHING I said was RUDE.....

The "orange sky" as you called it simply looked like "city glow" and over exposed shots, none of this I said earlier, would it have helped if I had said so.

I get good and bad comments mine are constructive, in fact your comments are the rude ones.

i think there has been crossed wires guys, i also thought your comment was a bit short and curt JR1 but plainly that wasn't how it was intended, it's not always easy to convey tone in a font and i think just a misunderstanding chaps? :)

I think the fact that you said nothing, other than 'try some post-processing' was rude. I had done post processing to remove the orange glow from the very overcast sky. There is no way the sky would appear so dark in the images I took.

As I said, I don't usually mind when folk feel that they know how my images should look, but usually they excuse themselves when they do and, more to the point, explain what they have done to make the 'improvements'.

You may find that my comment is in response to your rude post, and as you are such a hardened forumeer, they shouldn't upset you so much. Yes I overreacted, being isolated from the civilised world I can accept such lack of understanding of the English language and good manners from those to whom English is a second language, taught to them by Americans, who themselves have a very poor record of its usage. Therefore, I apologise for my reaction, as I cannot be certain that JR1 has the English skills that I had assumed that they had.

"as I cannot be certain that JR1 has the English skills that I had assumed that they had"....... What are you talking about!

I am beginning to think that you are, sadly, a very rude individual who believes too much in their own importance. And the rudeness does appear to be all one sided, yours.

Considering that I am dyslexic, try looking it up, and have to rely on my son and spell checks I am way ahead of you in manners if nothing else.

I thought this had been resolved? can we put this to bed now as i assume everyone has had their say?

Right images................... i agree a little too bright on the originals i think somewhere between the original and edit would give a nice balance with the ambient ;)
