Couple of our Sal's pics, now I've edited them

Postby chris Hodgson » Fri Feb 03, 2012 2:16 pm

These are a few I picked out to edit, but going to have a good look through tonight  . She had made quite a few newbie mistakes with settings etc, but that is what being a newbie is all about ;) If ya don't make mistakes, ya can't learn from them

Nice pics for a beginner.
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

A few were soft/lost detail Bob, but that was down to bad settings (high ISO and 1/3200 sec speed, on an f1.4 shot ;-) :o )

Richard Avedon once said that a photographer who said he didnt make mistakes was at best a fool and at worst a liar. We ALL make mistakes no matter how good we are. The trick is to learn from them and when they are pointed out to accept the critique with good grace. Myself, I'd like to say to you Sal- and this is NOT because Chris knows where I live and could hunt me down- that your making great strides in your work but to tread slow and comfortable and set youself small steps. That way you dont over stretch yourself and end up feeling down cos you didnt manage to get what you set out to do. If you do that, the progress will be steady and positive and you'll feel all the better for it. Good work so far and I wish you all the best with your journey.

awwww thanks kenny that was really nice, i do tend to get abit carried away lol.....but im the kind of girl that likes life with no gaps lol......and no sleep lol, got settings to learn, keep making a bollocks with shutter speeds lol...it was quite hard using all primes though...ya miss shots whilst changing lenses...very frustrating especially whilst skidding in bird shit and having a duck following us wanting to be in every picture...never had the urge to kick a duck before lol...xxxx

You know what Sal...I had a horrible night last night. The back and leg made me feel really miserable and I I got up this morning and thought...another S**t day with nowt to smile at but that post just made me laugh out loud and cheered me up.. I had visions of you in a pair of waders walking through a muddy field, trying to prevent yourself falling backward whilst trying to direct a model to pose and juggling ten primes and this duck slying slipping into shop and doing poses..and you going "get out of the frame you quacking little Sh**"

it's fair cheered me up no end...

just one final thing.....and it only just occurred to me cos you said you sorted something someone hadnt spotted Chris......where the bride model sits on the chaise long, if you do the shot again Sal, might be an idea to reposition the model so that her head isnt so near the staircase newel post is its coming out of the side of her head...
