My Mrs gave me call from town and said there was an old Zenit 11 in the charity shop for £10 with a lens and few other bits n bobs (my first ever camera). Anyway told her to get it, and the lens on it was the Helios 135mm f2.8 MF. So I slots it on the D40x and WOW, talk about sharp or what.

How does one become an award winner? (Apart from being good). What competitions can you go in for? Any thoughts?

as you all know, high speed water droplet photography is a very fun way to take a photo but it can be very frustrating at times. We have all seen those fantastic shots of water droplets that look like mushrooms, water droplets that were a different colour than the water they came out of. Have you ever wondered how they were achieved and what you need to do it.....?

OK, I have a confession. My cropping is VERY uncreative, and I always seem to go for cropping images to basic print sizes (eg: 6x4, 10x8 etc etc). So I wanna get out of this habit, and think outside the box a bit. To my knowledge, this shot from the other day, is one of the first, if not the only shot I've cropped to none standard sizes.

many us on on here have the newer Nikon cams with the fantastic nikon Creative lighting system on it. Only trouble is, it takes a few button presses to get to it which can be irritating. What if you could get to the control with one button push....

We cover every other occasion, but this doesn't seem to be something people cover?
I wonder if this could be a market yet to be covered by main stream photographers?
Well it seems that now section 44 has been dropped, photographers will no longer be able to be stopped taking photos, unless the police reasonably believe they are actually terrorists. This change means that they cannot stop you, and claim you may be taking photos for the purpose of facilitating terrorism. So photographers now have the power back in their own hands again :mrgreen: ...
