Like a silly bugger, I set my alarm wrong and got woken up at 3:30AM, but it's opened my eyes to what goes on while I'm in bed.
Came down for a drink and heard this almighty screeching noise in the garden. Opened the back door to see a little owl sat on our fence, but it shot off before I got chance to have a good look at it. ID'd it via RSPB site as a Female Tawny Owl (by it's call). There is a pair of them, as I stood for quite some time listening to them calling each other

Looked to my left while stood at the back door (half naked), and there was the fox in next doors garden. It didn't even bother it that I was there, and carried on eating scraps off the bird table
Gunna make it my mission to try and grab some shots of this stuff, so what would you use setup wise?

Hi Chris
Id get the cam on a tripod outside and connect the cam via thether into the kitchen or summat so you dont disturb them.If you can suss over a couple of days where they are in the garden you can set the cam up to capture them.
you need a lens that is good with low light such as the 1.8 50mm or summat a bit longer but still 1.8-2.8 for the low light.
I'll look forward to seeing some foxy pikkies

As far as I know birds can't actually see flash light so go for it with a flash gun mate. Pre-focus on a specific spot and wait.

I could be wrong Kenny. I guess if I am the owl will just fly away...
It's a lot easier to go the falconry centre and take a pic of one in captivity though. Regarding the fox, there is a rather nice stuffed one in out local bub
